Very recently one of the LNS photogs was shot at while shooting a locator at the scene of a deadly shooting. Shot at with a gun. 5 times. He was not hit.
Thank God.
Problem is, he was assigned to shoot the locator on the south side a mere hour and a half after the fact. No police on the scene...he felt safe at the time....talked to friendly neighbors...then 2 men approached...he thought they were out of place (not neighbors)...they acted strange...hiding in bushes...then a friendly neighbor warned him to watch his back...and the bullets rang out. He got out of there without harm.
This was around midnight on Wednesday.
I think the LNS Assignment editor never should have sent him.
Locators in hot crime areas can be done with a map. That is if the AE knows the city. Remember, he did scan the scene before getting the camera out of the car.
Does anyone else have a story about the LNS Assignment Desk?
